People like doing business with people they know, and members are encouraged to network with other business people through Chamber events.
Business After Hours. These events are sponsored by member businesses to showcase their company and are held throughout the year when requested by hosts. Attendance ranges from 40 to 100, with an average of around 50.
Monthly Membership Luncheons. These are the regular membership meetings, held each month except November. Speakers present business-related topics and programs and time is available for members to "Speak Out" about their business.
Social Breakfasts. These are networking opportunities focused on introducing our newest members to Chamber life and other members.
Ribbon-cutting ceremonies for new businesses. Dignitaries, Chamber Board of Directors, and the media are invited to these events which are published in the local papers and Chamber News.
Member businesses may take advantage of a number of advertising opportunities.
Member News. The monthly Chamber newsletter includes articles about member businesses. Member businesses are encouraged to use this opportunity to publish information about their business, their staff, and their events free of charge.
Chamber Newsletter Advertising Opportunities.
Chamber Newsletter Inserts. Members may place inserts in the monthly newsletter for $50. This newsletter is distributed to over 560 individuals in over 320 area businesses.
Newsletter Ads. Members may place a business-card-size ad inside or on the back cover of the newsletter. The cost for a black and white ad inside the newsletter is $125 for six months or $225 for a year. The cost for a color ad on the back page of the newsletter is $250 for six months or $450 for a year.
Sponsorships. Members may sponsor events and have their business included in the event coverage, including the local media, Chamber News, event-related mailings, and at the event.
Door Prizes. Members may donate door prizes at Chamber events. Door prize donors are recognized and thanked at events and in the newsletter.
Meet the Ohio Valley. Members are given the opportunity to advertise in the Meet the Ohio Valley magazine, which is produced and distributed by The Times Leader and given to visitors and new residents. Additionally, the Chamber membership list and contact information is included in the Meet the Ohio Valley publication.
Member Discounts
Several member discount opportunities are available to Chamber members.
Member-to-Member Discount Program. Members may offer discounts to fellow members, which are published annually in a brochure that is distributed to the entire membership.
Belmont County Safety Council. The Chamber partners with Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation to promote the Belmont County Safety Council which can earn an employer up to a 4% rebate on their workers compensation premiums by meeting certain criteria.
Workers Compensation Group Ratings Programs. Members may participate in one of several group rating programs offered to earn the maximum discount allowed by BWC.
Southern Ohio Chamber Alliance (SOCA). Members may participate in discounted employee health insurance programs.
Meet the Ohio Valley. The Chamber works with The Times Leader to produce Meet the Ohio Valley each summer with information about St. Clairsville, along with other Ohio Valley communities. Chamber members are listed and members have the opportunity to advertise in the publication. Meet the Ohio Valley is distributed as a supplement to the paper and the Chamber office gives copies to new residents and tourists.
Referrals. The Chamber office promotes member businesses to callers and visitors.
Academic Achievement Awards Dinner. This annual event recognizes outstanding students from the St. Clairsville Area.
Meet the Candidate. These events held in February and October give local candidates a forum and voters a face-to-face meeting with prospective office holders.
Christmas Tree Lighting and Parade. These events kick off the holiday season in the center of town and attract residents and visitors to the downtown area. Local musical groups are invited to sing and Santa stops by for a visit. Our parade is one of the largest in the Ohio Valley, with nearly 70 participants annually.
