There's a lot going on at Beep Beep Driving School and we were excited to be invited in recently to learn all about it. The business has moved to a new office space at 252 West Main Street, having formerly been in the same building, but now facing Main Street in an expanded space. On Thursday, January 14 they hosted a ribbon cutting and open house and invited Chamber members to come in and acquaint themselves with the business. Owner Bob West opened the driving school in 2004 after spending 26 years with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, and is happy to see the business growing.
In addition to their new location with a spacious training room, they are excited to share the news about their driving simulator, a virtual driver interactive tool that is the world's first simulation-based impaired and distracted driving experience. The simulator enables instructors at Beep Beep to teach critical driving skills without putting students in danger. This interactive experience increases knowledge retention because it is a hands-on experience and gives the students a chance to demonstrate what they have learned while getting complete, consistent and objective reporting about their performance. In addition to sharing the road with other vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists, the simulator introduces distractions such as ringing cell phones, radios, and passenger noises. The program can also be changed to different environments including daytime and nighttime driving and various weather conditions including rain and snow.
As well as providing valuable training for new drivers, Beep Beep Driving School can be of benefit to employers. West notes that employers face an annual cost of $60 billion for work-related accidents. Beep Beep offers a 6-hour defensive driving course that can help employers reduce their Workers Compensation, insurance, and legal exposure expenses related to work-related driving. Based on the National Safety Council driving course, the class teaches collision avoidance, separation distance, and much more.
Beep Beep Driving School is proud to be a AAA-approved driving school and can be reached at 740 699-0333.
