Chamber Meeting - August 2016
The August Meeting of the St. Clairsville Area Chamber of Commerce will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from noon to 1:30 pm at Belmont Hills Country Club. The cost of the luncheon will be $15.00 with RSVP and $17.00 for walk-ins at the door.
The speaker for the August meeting will be Todd Colquitt, Business Advocate within the Common Sense Initiative Office. In this role he functions chiefly as a liaison for the business community within the CSI Office and also with the Small Business Advisory Council. Prior to joining the CSI Office, Todd was VP of Government Relations for Verizon Communications, directing Verizon’s regulatory and legislative advocacy in Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. A native of Findlay, OH, Todd has also worked in the offices of the US Telecom Association, Ohio Congresswoman Deborah Pryce, and then-Governor George Voinovich. He graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in politics and has a master’s degree in public policy from Georgetown University.
The Common Sense Initiative (CSI) was created by Governor Kasich on January 10, 2011 to reform Ohio’s regulatory policies to help make it a more jobs- and business-friendly state. CSI is tasked with reviewing Ohio’s regulatory system to eliminate excessive and duplicative rules and regulations that stand in the way of job creation. It works to ensure that Ohio’s regulatory processes are built on the foundations of transparency, accountability, and performance, and it holds state agencies accountable as rules and regulations impacting businesses are developed or renewed. CSI operates on four principles: • Regulations should facilitate economic growth • Regulations should be transparent and responsive • Compliance should be easy and inexpensive • Regulations should be fair and consistent.
The menu for this luncheon is TBD
