The Amazing Raise Ohio Valley

MAY 5, 2015 – SECOND ANNUAL AMAZING RAISE OHIO VALLEY
 
Wheeling, WV – May 5, 2015 will be the second annual Amazing Raise Ohio Valley, a 24-hour online giving event benefiting dozens of nonprofit organizations in the Ohio Valley.  Hosted by the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley, the Amazing Raise Ohio Valley is a part of the national Give Local America with 120 community foundations across the country participating.
 
Beginning at midnight on May 5^th, donors may give to their favorite organization by going to www.GiveOV.org.  Giving online is simple by searching for their organization on the site and using a major credit card.  The minimum amount to give is $10.  The event concludes at 11:59 pm.
 
In its first year in 2014, the Amazing Raise Ohio Valley raised more than $357,000 for 92 participating Ohio Valley organizations.  The three organizations raising the most money locally last year were Augusta Levy Learning Center - $51,148; St. Clairsville Library Foundation - $48,893; Smith-Goshen Rice Enrichment Fund - $40,547, When combined with the other community foundations participating in Give Local America last year, the day was the single largest one-day giving event in national history raising $53 million.
 
This year there are 98 Ohio Valley organizations participating in the Amazing Raise Ohio Valley.
 
Local businesses and foundations have provided sponsorships and grants toward a bonus pool of funds that will enhance all gifts on May 5^th. The bonus pool dollars will be distributed proportionately among participating organizations based on money raised.
 
In addition to the bonus pool of funds, there are also special cash prizes awarded throughout the day.  Those prizes are:
 
Robinson Automotive Group Most Money Raised - One $3,000 prize to the organization that raises the most money
 
WesBanco Second Money Raised - One $2,000 prize to the organization that raises the second most money
 
WTRF Third Most Money Raised - One $1,000 prize to the organization that raises the third most money
 
AEP Mountaineer - One $500 prize to the organization headquartered in West Virginia that raises the most money from 8:00 am - 10:00 am
 
Harvey Goodman Realtors Buckeye Award - One $500 prize to the organization headquartered in Ohio that raises the most money from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
 
XTO Energy Starting Line Award - One $500 prize to the organization that receives the first donation of the day
 
Dominion Pit Stop Award - One $500 prize to the organization that raises the most money from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
 
XTO Energy Rush Hour Award - One $500 prize awarded to the organization that receives the most unique online donations of any size between 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
 
EQT Night Owl Award - One $500 prize to the organization that receives the most unique online donations of any size between 10:00 pm - 11:00 pm
 
Security National Trust Final Leg Award - One $500 prize awarded to the organization that receives the final donation of the day
 
Lamar 1,000 for 1,000 - One $1,000 prize awarded to the organization that receives the 1,000th gift
 
Huntington Bank Benchmark Prize - One $500 prize awarded to the first organization to receive 50 unique online donations
 
Golden Tickets ($500 prizes, to be eligible organization must receive an online donation during the specified timeframe)
#1 (WKKX The Valley's Watchdog) - Random drawing between 7:00 am - 8:00 am
#2 (West Virginia Northern Community College) - Random drawing between 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
#3 (Ye Olde Alpha) - Random drawing between 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
 
Throughout the day donors can watch the giving action live at www.GiveOV.org.  Prizes will be announced as they are determined.
 
Donors who prefer to give by cash or check on May 5^th may visit the CFOV office between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm.  The CFOV is located at 1310 Market Street on the first floor of the Chamber of Commerce building.
